Diet and Dietary Supplements in the Integrative Management of Colorectal Cancer
Webinar recording
About the webinar:
Carcinogenesis is a complex in multi factorial process involving chronic inflammation, mitochondrial dysfunction and epigenetic disruption. Nutrition, as well as dietary supplementation of individual nutrients and phytochemicals can influence the carcinogenic process. This presentation will review the hallmarks of carcinogenesis and then discuss key dietary interventions for reducing cancer risk, specifically colorectal cancer risk. Additionally, evidence-based nutritional co-management strategies will be addressed and several dietary supplements that are key to reducing colorectal cancer risk and mortality will be reviewed.
By the end of this lecture, the clinician will be able to:
• Gain an understanding of the key components of carcinogenesis and the nutritional influences on these processes
• Identify dietary patterns which are associated with reduced cancer risk, reduced risk of colorectal cancer and reduced colorectal cancer-related mortality
• Identify key evidence-based dietary supplements that improve colorectal cancer morbidity and mortality.
